345 Mapo Tofu (Braised Tofu in Chili Sauce)

INGREDIENTS (4 servings)

  • 1-2 packages of soft tofu, cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup of vegetarian ground meat
  • 1 Tbsp of chili bean sauce/hot bean sauce
  • A dash of chili oil or chili paste (optional)
  • Cilantro, for garnish
  • A dash of cooking oil
  • A dash of low sodium soy sauce
  • A dash of water
  • A pinch of ground Sichuan pepper
  • A bit of cornstarch or corn flour mixed with a 1/2 cup of water

DIRECTIONS

Step 1
Heat oil in a pan and stir fry the vegetarian ground meat with the hot bean sauce. Then add the soy sauce, water, and tofu. Mix until everything is evenly distributed.
Step 2
Finally stir in the cornstarch mixture and chili oil. Garnish with the cilantro and Sichuan pepper before serving.
